A MAN has been killed in a serious crash on the A419 near Castle Eaton.

The incident happened at approximately 8pm yesterday yesterday and police closed the carriageway between the southbound Cricklade junction and the northbound Turnpike junction.

It involved a tractor, towing a trailer, and an articulated lorry, both of which were travelling nothbound at the time of the accident.

As a result of the incident, the articulated lorry crossed over on to the southbound carriageway and collided with another vehicle.

Three other vehicles suffered damage from debris from the original collison.

A man in his 40s died at the scene.
