RESIDENTS of Walcot and Park North are being asked to attend a meeting to discuss the future of The Dome.

People are invited to The Dome community centre in Burghley Close on Tuesday, March 8, at 7pm to elect a committee.

The meeting has been called by the centre’s steering group to vote in officers – a chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer.

Patsy Moloney, who is the steering committee chairman, said: “We need people to come along and give their views.

“The Dome Community Centre is under new management and it is about working for the community by the community.

“We want people to come along and give their views. We’re looking for residents who have some time to spare to help make The Dome a much-needed community asset.”

Mr Moloney said a group of local residents have formed a steering group which has been working with Swindon Council so the building can come back into community ownership.

He said The Dome has the potential to become a vibrant community centre where activities for all age groups can take place. It has a function room, meeting rooms, a kitchen and can hold an occasional licence.
