MASONS have donated their time to honour the heroes of the bomb disposal unit by engraving the plaques for a new war memorial wall.
Midcounties Co-operative memorial masonry staff from Highworth Memorials have prepared plaques and badges for a wall at Didcot’s Vauxhall Barrack’s, which features 26 plaques, five regiment badges and a commemorative plaque reading “Lest we forget.”
It is to remember the fallen soldiers of 11 Explosive Ordinance Disposal Regiment, part of the Royal Logistics Corps.
The team carried out the work voluntarily as part of their community hours assigned to all Midcounties colleagues.
Highworth Memorial’s manager, Roy Bacon, said: “It is doing work like this that is exactly why we have community hours and why they are so important.”
