A MOTHER worried for the welfare of her son who has not been seen in five days has issued a desperate plea for information about his whereabouts.

Alan Barry, 22, pictured, was last seen after being dropped off at the Sir Daniel Arms pub, in Fleet Street, at 9.30pm on Saturday. He went to his home in Berenger Close, Old Town, to get changed before his night out but there has been no word from him since.

Alan – known as Baz to his friends – was reported missing by his mum, Catherine Houston who he lives with, on Tuesday when no-one had heard from him for a number of days.

She said he has not packed anything to suggest he has gone away and is worried sick as it is totally out of character for the 22-year-old to just go off without saying anything.

“He just said he was going out with his friends, but no one has seen him,” said 48-year-old Catherine.

“His friend dropped him off at the pub but she said there wasn’t anything strange about the way he was acting.

“His friends have left messages on Facebook but he has not replied and he is always on Facebook.

“They have also tried calling him and texting but his phone has been off and he has left his charger here.

“I am so worried – he’s never done anything like this before, it is so out of character.

“I’ve just got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, it is horrible.”

Catherine said that Alan has not been working recently so she is sure he doesn’t have any money.

His father, who lives in Crawley, West Sussex, hasn’t heard from him either.

Former Kingsdown pupil Alan, is 6ft 2ins tall and was wearing a checked shirt, with a t-shirt underneath, and jeans when he was last seen by his friend who dropped him off at the pub.

He has a distinctive tattoo of his name on the back of his neck and has a shaved head.

“It’s the not knowing that is really getting to me, I’m going out of my mind,“ Catherine said.

“He is such a good boy with plenty of friends but I am just worried he may have got caught up in something he can’t get out of. The police are doing all they can but they have said there is a list of 5,000 missing people in Swindon so he is not a priority in their eyes but he is a priority for me.”

“It is horrific and I am praying for him to come home, and not to get a knock on the door from the police.”
