LUCKY children at Bridlewood Primary School are enjoying play time more than ever before thanks to innovative new equipment.

The school now has a playground full of brightly-coloured SNUG play kit, which has transformed the usual asphalt area into a creative and flexible play landscape.

Assistant headteacher Rachel Hickman said: “SNUG has not only transformed our playground but it has also provided a creative resource that supports learning.

“The children and teachers are delighted with the kit and it is wonderful to watch them developing their imagination and social skills while having fun.”

The SNUG equipment is a completely new approach to school playground design and consists of large-scale modular shapes such as loops, tunnels and mounds and can be used to enhance learning across all curriculum subjects including maths, English, geography and PE.

Rachel said: “We chose it because we thought it was quite unique. We thought we would end up with just a slide or climbing frame, but with this equipment it can be something different every day.

“One day it can be a rocket, the next day it could be a boat, so rather than having a fixed structure it is something different and the children absolutely adore it.

“We’d like to thank all of the parents that helped us raise the funds to buy SNUG.”

Funding for the project was raised by the schools’ parent committee and children themselves.
