HUNDREDS of people joined the pigs down on the farm for a half term activity week.

Roves Farm at Sevenhampton has kicked off the new season hosting a themed week called The Three Little Pigs, which has proved to be the most successful half term week yet.

Craft sessions have been on offer for children to decorate their own pig masks and pictures to take home.

Free tractor rides based on the classic children’s story allowed youngsters to play the wolf and try to huff and puff the houses down.

Animal farm manager Pippa Burr said: “The week has gone very well; we have been really busy.

“There are not many places like us open at this time of year and a lot of our activities are under cover so a lot of people come during half term knowing they can have a good day out.

“The theme really fits in with what we are doing on the farm – it is a well known story and the children are enjoying getting involved.”

This week also marked by the arrival of new piglets which were born on Wednesday and children were allowed to bottle feed them along with some new baby lambs and calves.

Children also got the chance to hold some new born chicks.

Pippa said: “The sow was meant to have the piglets three weeks ago but she was late.

“It is nice to have them on the same week as the event and I think the children are really enjoying getting hands on.”

The Three Little Pigs week ends on Sunday, with tickets costing £7 for an adult, £6 for children and £6.50 for concession.

Roves Farm Visitor Centre is now open daily, 10.30am to 5pm until the end of October.
