CREATIVE work to brighten up the hoardings around the construction site of Pinehurst’s new community centre has started.

The two-storey Pine Trees Community Centre – a project led by Swindon Council – is being built on the site of the former Pine Trees residential home, off The Circle.

Children and adults from the estate have been painting a base coat on the hoardings, as part of a project to improve the site’s appearance, and tomorrow they will return to paint their own murals onto the boards.

Youngsters at Ruskin Junior School, Pinehurst Sure Start and Little Pine Trees Nursery have also been given boards to decorate, which will be nailed on to the hoardings.

The project has been organised by Ed Browne, Swindon Council’s community development officer for Pinehurst, and Simon Halls, the youth and community chaplain for Pinehurst.

Work on the community centre is expected to finish by the end of October.
