COMMUTERS faced delays yesterday after a caravan overturned on the same road that claimed the life of farmer Bruce Willis last Sunday.

One lane of the northbound carriageway on the A419 was closed when a caravan, which was being towed by a red Volkswagen Passat, flipped at the bottom of Blunsdon Hill at 3.30pm.

Police had to close the inside lane for more than two hours, causing traffic mayhem for drivers.

One witness said: “The car was still upright – it was just the caravan that had toppled.

“It looked like that caused the car to spin around.

“The caravan was on its side, but all of the occupants were inside the car and appeared to be fine.”

The incident comes only four days after an articulated lorry collided with Mr Willis’ tractor, which was towing a trailer heading toward Cirencester.

Three other vehicles were involved in the accident that claimed Mr Willis’ life, near the Castle Eaton Junction.

Police are still asking for witnesses to last Sunday’s crash, which happened at about 8pm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 0845 408 7000, or anonymously, on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
