ONE of the town’s best-known hotels is getting ready to reveal its new look restaurant to the public.

The De Vere Village Hotel at Shaw, formerly known as De Vere Swindon – has undergone a £5m refurbishment scheme and work is due to finish this week.

The project has seen facilities improved and updated as part of the hotel’s rebranding and has included the introduction of a Starbucks coffee house, the Victory pub and the Buca di Beppo Italian restaurant.

The 170-seater restaurant, which is one of only three in the UK, is set to welcome its first diners through the doors at noon tomorrow.

General manager Andrew Spink said: “We cannot wait to show it off to the rest of the people in Swindon who haven’t visited us so far.

“I think it will be great for the West Swindon area. It will complement all the facilities at Shaw Ridge Leisure Park like the cinema.”

The hotel, which started trading under De Vere’s Village brand in January, is the first hotel in the UK to be converted into a Village hotel.

The internal remodelling, which started in September, has seen all 147 bedrooms refurbished and fitted with plasma screen televisions.

The hotel features a refurbished health and fitness club, including a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, a Jacuzzi, and gym.

“The customers have been great and understanding while we have been doing the project,” said Mr Spink.

“The staff have worked very hard to keep the business going and the customers have given us some good feedback about the hotel.”
