THE TOWN’S most talented dancers came together to delight two sell out audiences at the weekend with a showcase of youth dance.

Swindon Dance presented Dance House 2011 at the theatre in Regent Circus on Friday and Saturday, with two explosive evenings of entertainment by dancers who take part in the Access to Excellence programmes.

The show included work performed by D-Men, Creative Dance, Fusion Youth and Swindon Youth Dance Company — who all showed off their unique styles and talents.

Marketing officer Clare Fantini-Stephens said the performances were a huge success.

“Judging by the screams and the standing ovation from the audience, everyone really enjoyed it,” she said.

“The dancers did really well – some of them are used to performing to large audiences, but some of them aren’t, so I think they were a bit nervous, but everyone was so excited and really buzzing beforehand and they all did really well.”

Choreographer Robert Hylton, artistic director of Urban Classicism, put together a show with a mixture of dance genres, which the students have been busy rehearsing for a full term.

A total of around 120 dancers between the ages of 11 and 17- took part in the show, which also saw the launch of Club 500, a new way to raise money for Swindon Dance.
