This Easter holidays are not just about bunnies and chocolate. From Palm Sunday April 17 to Easter Monday April 25, Easter Stations will be set up across Swindon for everyone to follow the stations fo the cross as depicted in the bible.

The stations are being created by schools, colleges and community groups in partnership with Swindon Churches Together.

Each station is based on part of the story of Jesus’ journey to death and resurrection. The Right Rev Dr Lee Rayfield said: ''Some will be very traditional and familiar but others may be quite unusual. We expect them to create interest and prompt reflection on what Easter is about.''

Churches in Swindon come together to organise joint events and for Easter to get across the true message.

The Art Department of The Commonweal School in the Mall, Old Town, Swindon is one of the schools taking part in the Swindon Churches Together ‘Easter 2011 Creative Project’.

The Tuesday and Thursday Key Stage 3 Art Clubs worked together to produce a piece of art work.

Sue Lucey, from the school, said: “We were asked to select what aspect of the Easter story we would like to base our work on and chose ‘Jesus entering Jerusalem’. The art work was designed by the students, using a series of canvasses, that were then joined together. The work uses recycled materials, and has 3D elements created using papier mache and card construction.’’

The art work will be displayed somewhere in Swindon Town Centre.

Students at New College are also hoping to make short video clips showing the pupils working on their exhibits.
