PROSPECT Hospice’s shops are asking supporters to donate their unwanted hats for sale this month.
As part of the charity’s first Hat Amnesty, staff and volunteers at the 12 shops covering the community served by the hospice are hoping that headwear that is no longer wanted can raise vital funds.
The head of retail, Charly Rich, said: “We often buy a hat for a special occasion, and then never wear it again.
“With the warm weather, and the summer months ahead of us, we hope that people will donate their hats, fascinators, bonnets and caps so that we can sell them on to our customers.”
Prospect’s shops make a sizeable contribution to the £5m the hospice needs to provide its care to more than 1,600 people each year and last year raised more than £1m
