THE search for Miss Swindon 2011 started this weekend and there is still time for more beauty queen hopefuls to enter.

Girls aged between 17 and 24-years-old are still being invited to take part in the Miss Swindon and Miss Wiltshire competition.

The selection process started on Sunday and will continue tomorrow night.

Nearly 30 girls took part in the interviews and photoshoots at Liquid and Envy this weekend and even more are expected to take part in the heat at Tony and Guy.

Organiser Rhona Shafik said: “Thursday will be the last audition, girls who want to take part can just come along.

“We want a good Miss Swindon – we’re looking for someone intelligent, pro-active and attractive.

“We are looking for contestants who are not only photogenic and attractive in face and figure but also have good communication skills, confidence and charm.

“Winning the title of Miss Wiltshire or Miss Swindon will bring a host of new opportunities to the two winners, including representing this area in the next stage of the national competition.”

Rhona said the girls who had entered already had impressed the judges and it would be difficult to decide who makes it through to the finals.

“It’s going to be hard to knock out some of the girls, there are some really nice girls and I think the judges were quite impressed with virtually all the girls they saw,” she said.

“The competition is going to be bigger than last year.”

The successful finalists will take part in a show at Liquid and Envy on June 3, where judges will choose who will be crowned Miss Swindon and Miss Wiltshire.

The winner of Miss Swindon will compete in the semi-final at the prestigious Champneys Health Spa while the winner of Miss Wiltshire will win direct entry to the Miss England grand final, which takes place in July.

All candidates will also be asked to fundraise for the official Miss England charity, the Variety Clubs Children’s Charity.

Last year the contestants raised more than £2,000 and this year the goal is to raise even more.

Tomorrow’s auditions will take place upstairs at Toni and Guy, in Regent Circus, from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.

All girls are asked to wear red T-shirts for the photoshoot.
