LOCAL businesses will be able to have their say on the massive regeneration of the town centre next week.

The business breakfast event, hosted by networking group Business Village, will allow small and medium businesses to give their feedback on impending developments, including the £350m Union Square project revealed in the Adver last week.

Bill Cotton, director for economic development at Forward Swindon, the firm charged with regenerating the town centre, will be presenting how local businesses can benefit from and contribute to the future.

He said: “Swindon is a great centre for businesses of all sizes.

“We are looking forward to working with Business Village in helping to inform businesses of the range of projects that Forward Swindon is doing to boost the local economy.

“I would ask business people to come along to find out more about our ambitious plans for regenerating the town centre, helping people to start their own businesses, and how the Local Enterprise Partnership may affect your business in the future.”

Steve Dye, chairman of Business Village, said: “This is a significant presentation from an important local organisation which is playing a major role in the economic regeneration of Swindon.

“I think local businesses definitely have a role to play in shaping the future and although the large organisations will grab the headlines then they move into an area but there is a healthy small and medium business sector here too.

“It is also a great opportunity for local businesses to express their views of Swindon as a place to work and to do business.

“Anyone involved in running a business is invited to come along and we expect a large turnout, so there will be great networking opportunities available as well.”

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 24, at Chiseldon House Hotel from 7.15am to 9am. The presentation beginning at 8am and costs just £10, which includes a buffet breakfast.
