HIP-HOP stars Beatbullyz are in Swindon for a rare hometown show this week.

The gig, at The 12 Bar in Westcott Place, coincides with yesterday’s release of a new video to accompany their latest single, Shout.

After 14 months’ touring with JLS, Example, N-Dubz and Jason Derulo, Beatbullyz headlined their own tour in February with fellow Swindon hip-hop artist AJ as support. Since then, they have been hidden away in the recording studio writing songs for the album.

Now they are reuniting with AJ for tomorrow’s gig, which kicks off at 6pm.

The band’s singer, Bozo, said: “It is a hello/goodbye gig as AJ is off round the world and we are back on the scene.”

Beatbullyz are back in town until the autumn when they will be touring either with American rapper and producer Coolio or Big Boi From Outkast.

“There are a lot of Swindon connections in the video,’’ said Bozo. “Master of Dance (dance troupe) are in it and the graffiti artists from Swindon’s Read It And Weep.’’ AJ released his first album, Lyricologist, in April and has been performing on the festival circuit this summer. He is about to head off to India, south east Asia, Singapore and Australia.

“I am going to blog and take a flip cam to record a worldwide rap in each special place, such as the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China,” he said.

“Then people can see them on my website – www.ajentertainment.co.uk.”

Meanwhile, Beatbullyz will be promoting the new album. Bozo, who is joined in the band by Bully, Disco, Philonious Funk and Yoyo, says that they have six new tracks ready.

“We invented the new genre of ‘hip-pop’ for the last album but this one is more edgy, cooler and follows the hardships we faced coming from a town that has few options for getting into the music industry,” said Bozo.

Beatbullyz will be joined at tomorrow’s gig by some of Swindon’s top MCs, Daine, Zeeks, TJ and Myles. Tickets are £6 from the bar or wegottic kets.com or The Forum in the Brunel Centre.
