Honda have revealed they will not appeal against Swindon Council's refusal to let them erect wind turbines at their South Marston plant.

In a statement, the car giant said they were still committed to their green plans but will not be taking the council's rejection to an appeal.

A spokesman for the company said: "Honda and its partner Ecotricity still have complete confidence in the proposal, as proven by similar wind parks already working successfully at many other locations elsewhere in the UK.

"However, in making the final decision, Honda carefully considered the different views of Swindon residents, councillors, businesses and organisations."
