SWINDON’S MPs, Justin Tomlinson and Robert Buckland, have praised the Government’s plans for the year ahead announced in the Queen’s Speech on Wednesday.
The legislative programme contains 15 Bills and four draft Bills, a much slimmer programme than in previous years. They include flexible parental leave, breaking up the banks and exempting the UK from euro bailouts.
Mr Tomlinson said: “We will continue to extend opportunity in our economy – with an Enterprise and Employment Bill that will make Britain one of the most business-friendly countries in the world; and a Banking Reform Bill that will clear up the regulatory mess and protect our economy and Britain’s families from the sort of risky activity that led to the recession.”
He said the Tories would continue to reward responsibility in society, saying a new Families and Children Bill would provide unprecedented support for parents and the biggest reform for 30 years of support for children with special needs or disabilities.
However, Labour leader Ed Miliban, said the Queen’s Speech offered no hope to the unemployed and millions of people being squeezed by rising living costs.
