A MODEST but exemplary approach to his work has earned Kenny Meacham the title of Supported Employee of the Year.
The event, held by Swindon health and social care company SEQOL, took place to celebrate the achievements of supported workers who have gone the extra mile.
The employees were recognised for their achievements in customer service, team working and being positive role models.
The supported employment service offers training and support to enable people with disabilities or long-term health conditions to return to work.
Kenny, who is employed at the Enterprise Works factory in Elgin, said: “I’m not the only winner; we are all winners in my eyes.
“I could not have achieved this award without the support from managers and other colleagues. “It is a surprise to win employee of the year, I can’t take all credit, because it’s a team effort.”
All participants in the supported employment service have been nominating employees of the month between January 2011 and March 2012.
Kenny was selected from the shortlist of monthly winners. Jan Trethewey, SEQOL director of operations said: “Selecting just one winner was a very difficult choice, each of the employees of the month deserved recognition for the fantastic job they have done.” SEQOL, who held the event at the Marriott in Old Town on Tuesday, has supported job-seekers to secure experience-building work placements and helped them apply for work.
SEQOL, which stands for Social Enterprise Quality of Life, will hold the event again in 2013.
