THE first of this year’s Swindon Bowl shows takes place on May 26 – and the fun kicks off with the Warsaw Village Band.
The Polish roots pioneers formed 15 years ago as a group of friends on the Polish folk scene and quickly became one of the biggest surprises within the world music sector, winning the prestigious BBC Radio 3 Award for the best world music newcomers and best folk recording by the European Broadcasting Union.
It is hard to pigeon-hole their sound, which is steeped in many different genres including roots, folk, world and reggae undertones. However it’s modern music, played by modern musicians inspired by tradition for this and the next generations.
The group will be supported by Casabella, who play a mix of Latin beat and reggae with lyrics in English, Italian, Spanish and French.
The event takes place at the Town Gardens Bowl from 7.30pm. Gates open at 6.30pm.
Tickets costs £13 for adults and £5 for children. To book call the box office on 01793 614837 or visit www.swindon.gov.uk/bowlconcerts
