Ferndale Netball Club, one of the oldest teams in Swindon, are on the lookout for new players of all ages and standards to come along to training sessions and help maintain their long-running tradition.
The club, which has been in existence for over 100 years, has seen a number of players depart due to injury or retirement and are keen for fresh talent to swell the numbers for their three teams.
“I have been at the club for 40 years and I have had to fight tooth and nail as we have to fund ourselves,” said Joy Blake, who runs and coaches the club.
“We want to boost awareness and we are keen for anybody to come along and play. As long as they enjoy it, that is the important thing.”
Membership fee is £17 a month and the club trains every Monday from 7:30pm-9:30pm at Greendown School while matches are played on Saturdays, though there is no pressure on anyone to participate in the league games.
