AN interactive table that helps to stimulate the memories of people with dementia by projecting images at a new community memory café.

Haydon Wick Parish Council has secured funding for the project from the National Lottery Community Fund with the aim of helping people be more confident about re-entering the community after months of isolation in lockdowns.

Chairman of the community development committee Ellen Baker Lee said: “Having a mum who has lived with Dementia for the past nine years I have long been passionate about how we can help people living with dementia experience more fulfilled lives. When I was able to become involved with the parish council’s idea of setting up a memory café, I was really excited because I knew this service will make a real difference to those affected by dementia.

“Our purchase of this amazing interactive table has made my hopes to improve the lives of some of our residents become a reality. The parish council is working hard to put the plans in place to get our café up and running as quickly as can. We look forward to welcoming those living dementia to our community hub."

The award winning table will be used in the café and shared in local care homes and community groups.
