SHRIVENHAM threw away a three-goal lead as they lost an extraordinary Hellenic League Premier Division clash to Brimscombe & Thrupp at Barrington Park.

Gareth Davies’ side were left still looking for their first home win of the campaign as the Gloucestershire outfit came back from the dead to steal the three points, the home side also ending the contest with 10 men.

Shrivvy made the perfect start to the contest as Lewis Petrie went through and fired home the opener just six minutes in.

The hosts had a couple of further chances before extending their lead on the quarter hour, as, Josh Morse and Danny Hale combined for the latter to find the net.

Ten minutes from half-time Morse and Petrie combined to set up Dan Drewett to take Shrivvy seemingly out of sight.

But the seeds of a comeback were sown as Brimscombe pulled a goal back shortly before the interval.

The home nerves really started jangling as the lead was cut further with a second Brimscombe goal on the hour mark and eight minutes later it was 3-3.

Two minutes later Shrivvy’s Scott Chilcott saw red for a reckless challenge and Brimscombe took advantage to go into the lead for the first time on 76 minutes. A fifth went past Shrivvy keeper Dan Lawrence on 86 minutes.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town lost out 2-0 at Virginia Water in their top-flight clash.

After a goalless first half, Josh Hill's shot gave the home side the lead and Adam McNamara then doubled Water's advantage.
