JEFF Roberts felt the footballing gods had not been smiling on his side despite them twice fighting back from a goal down to clinch a Southern League Division One South home point against high-flying Blackfield & Langley.

The Worthians needed a late strike from Callum Parsons to restore parity at the SaveOnTyres Stadium as they showed commendable battling qualities against the side they had lost 3-0 to in the FA Trophy seven days previously.

But Roberts felt his men could have had even more, calling into the question the decisions that handed the Hampshire outfit two penalties

"I think we were robbed a little by the officials,'' said Roberts. "Some of the decision-making was very poor to be honest with you.

"But we've come from behind twice to get a point out of it and I thought we dominated quite a bit of the game, especially having played them in the Trophy last week and getting beaten 3-0 down there.

"The first one (penalty) I thought was very harsh. He's literally played the referee. He's clipped his own heels and gone down in the box but the ref was 25 yards away and pointed straight to the spot.

"The second one was another where he's gone flying over in the box and he's given it. But we showed a bit of character. There have been a few games where we've been getting beat and we've got back into the game.''

Both Parsons and Toumani Sidibi went close for Highworth early on before Wayne Turk was penalised for an apparent foul on Lerone Plummer, who got up to net the spot-kick himself.

Turk made amends just before half-time as he headed a Sean Wood free kick.

Blackfield regained the lead 15 minutes from time as Ryan Moore was penalised and Fatah Makhloufi converted from the spot. But fine work from Sidibi set up Parsons for Town's second to restore parity.

Roberts added: "It's a good point, but disappointing we didn't get three.

"We played well and if we had taken our chances it would have been a bit more comfortable.''
