JAZZ Carlin has this morning missed out on a place in the final of the 800m freestyle at the World Championships in Barcelona.
Carlin's time of 8:27.48 saw her finish as the ninth fastest swimmer in the heats, one place short of a spot in tonight's final.
Carlin said: “It was tough and I’m really disappointed obviously. I was happy but disappointed with the 400. I wanted to go in and get a good swim but it wasn’t the swim I wanted it to be.
"I’ve still got plenty of determination and motivation for the next three years. I’m happy to be here. I wanted to be on the podium obviously but there’s still so much that I want and need to work on."
The fastest qualifier was America's Katie Ledecky made it through in 8:20.65.
Meanwhile, Swindon's Tilly Gray finished third in the 100m fly final at the US Open in California.
