SWINDON Town have yet to decide whether they want to keep forwards Nicky Ajose and Mohammed El Gabas beyond their initial deals which expire in January.

Both players moved to the County Ground in August, with Ajose scoring four goals in 10 games and El Gabas making one start and six appearances off the bench, and decisions need to be made regarding both on January 1.

Ajose is on loan from Peterborough, with no fee agreed between the two clubs when the temporary deal was initially done, while El Gabas’ original six month deal needs to be reviewed at the start of 2014.

Director of football operations Lee Power has been impressed with Ajose in particular, and also accepts Egyptian El Gabas has yet to have the chance to prove what he is truly capable of, but admitted no decision has been made regarding their futures.

“There are two options with both the players, either keep them or send them back,” he said.

“It’s too early really to be thinking about it, although Nicky has done really well and probably has had more game time than Mohammed has managed to get so far.

“Nicky’s goals to games ratio has been fantastic so there is something to consider there, and maybe Mohammed is difficult to judge right now because he hasn’t had that time on the pitch just yet. He’s done okay when he has got on, though.

“Over the next two months we will see what happens leading up to January 1 and myself and Mark will make a decision on whether or not we will want to keep the two of them at the club.”

Both players were taking part in a reserve game against Cheltenham yesterday afternoon, with Ajose scoring twice and El Gabas also netting in the 5-2 win.

Ryan Harley, who is closing in on a first team return, also scored while Connor Waldon was on the scoresheet.
