SWINDON Town striker Andy Williams has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

The frontman, who joined Yeovil on a season-long loan deal in August, sustained the injury in training with the Glovers and returned to Swindon for assessment, where it was revealed that Williams requires an operation on the problem area.

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson confirmed the forward would be out for the remainder of the campaign, telling the Western Gazette: “He’s definitely out for the rest of the season and sometimes longer. I hate that when I see a young footballer with that type of injury because it’s quite a long haul to get back."
