YEOVIL Town will still have to pay a portion of Andy Williams’s wages as part of their loan agreement with Swindon Town, despite the striker having been ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

The Advertiser understands the terms of the deal which took Williams to Somerset on a year-long loan in August ensure that the Glovers will continue to shoulder a percentage of the 27-year-old’s salary for the remainder of the 2013/14 campaign.

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson confirmed Williams will be out of action until next summer after sustaining the injury in training last week. He has since returned to Swindon for treatment and will require surgery.

Johnson told the Western Gazette: “He’s definitely out for the rest of the season and sometimes longer. I hate that when I see a young footballer with that type of injury because it’s quite a long haul to get back.”

Swindon’s director of football operations Lee Power told the Advertiser: “We’re disappointed for Andy, it’s a setback for him and he’s due back at our club for medical help and recuperation, but he’s still officially on loan at Yeovil until the end of the season.

“We wish him a speedy recovery.”
