SWINDON Supermarine have made seven-day approaches for Chippenham's James Guthrie and Wootton Bassett's Alex Rigley.

Left-winger Guthrie played under Marine boss Dave Webb for Highworth and has impressed since arriving at Hardenhuish Park in January 2011.

Rigley, another left-sided player, featured in 12 games for Marine in the 2007/08 season following his release by Swindon Town, and is now playing Hellenic League Premier Division football with Bassett.

The approaches for Guthrie and Rigley are part of a three-pronged transfer foray by Marine boss Dave Webb, who is also close to clinching a deal to bring Hungerford striker Josh Parsons back to the Webb's Wood Stadium.

Chippenham, who appointed Mark Collier as their new boss on Wednesday, have made a seven-day approach for Marine midfielder Rob Dean, who former Bluebirds boss Nathan Rudge tried to sign last summer.

Collier's first new recruit was Forest Green keeper Matt Bulman on a month's loan, who will go head-to-head with Ben John for the number one jersey.

Visitors Cambridge provide the opposition for Collier's first Southern League Premier Division game in charge of the Bluebirds this afternoon, while Marine are without a fixture in Division One South & West.
