DAVE Webb says that he is not under pressure at Swindon Supermarine despite only picking up one win in 2015.

The Webb’s Wood Stadium outfit have endured a crippling injury list this term that has left the manager down to the bare bones at times.

Marine, who bowed out of the Red Insure Cup on Tuesday night following poor display in their 2-0 defeat to North Leigh, have also seen assistant Lee Spalding depart before Christmas.

While former Leeds United head coach Dave Hockaday stepped in to fill the void on a temporary basis he is now Professional Development Coach at League One side Coventry City and Webb admits that it has been a struggle to find replacement number two.

“I have got a couple of feelers out, but it is not easy trying to fill the shoes of Dave Hockaday,” Webb said. “It is tough but hopefully I can get it sorted soon.

“But no I’m not feeling the pressure at all this year. There have been circumstances why it has been so tough this year.

“Yes I pick the team, but we all have a responsibility to this football club.

“We need to pull together, work harder than the opposition and I believe we have enough quality to putting a run of positive results together.”

Supermarine remain without club captain Dave Bampton who has been missing since October with a back problem.

The former Swindon Town youngster has had an injection in his back to try and help relieve the pain, but Webb is unsure when the central defender will return.

“He has been out for such a long time,” he said. “Hopefully now that he has had this injection we can get him back training.

“He has been a big miss and he is a real character to have in the squad.”

Webb is hopeful of welcoming back striker Bradley Gray from injury for the visit of fellow strugglers Clevedon Town, while Sam Morris (suspension) and Cameron Pirie (ill) should be available again.

However, Kyle Lapham, Aaron Oakley and Joe Shepherd will join Bampton on the sidelines.

“There is a possibility that we might be able to bring someone in on loan,” Webb said. “I have been speaking with a Football League club – not Swindon – and we will see what happens.”
