TOWN keeper Wes Foderingham is hoping Town can tie up their play-off place and relax into the post-season.

A point is all that is required from Town’s final six games to ensure a place in the play-off spots. That point would also see Swindon match their points total from the 2012/13 season, the last time Foderingham and his teammates attempted to go up via Wembley.

Considering those feats it makes the team’s achievements this season, with a far smaller budget than two years ago, all the more impressive.

For Foderingham, who has been putting in some exemplary performances of late, it is good news to have their fates, at least play-off-wise, all but sorted so early.

“It means you’ve got nothing to lose,” said the stopper on potentially securing a play-off spot five games out.

“You’re guaranteed to be in the play-offs and you’re left with only the chance to gain something, which is to finish second.

“There’ll be a lot of pressure on Preston to maintain their form and keep winning their games, so we’ll keep trying to win our games and if that means that we finish second then that’s fantastic.

“Everyone can relax a bit – obviously not too much because there’s still a chance we can finish second – and we’ll try to win every game until the end of the season and see where that takes us.”

“It shows that we’ve been a little bit more consistent this year.

“If we can go there on Tuesday night and not only get a point but a win as well it’ll be a big victory for us.”

On a more personal note Foderingham was happy to see a return of tight defending in the 1-0 win against Peterborough, having shipped six goals in two games.

“We conceded three against MK Dons and three against Bristol City as well,” he added.

“So to bounce back with a clean sheet was very pleasing”
