FAIRFORD Town boss Gareth Davies knows his side are in for a difficult afternoon when they face local rivals Highworth this weekend.

The Cinder Lane outfit play host to their Hellenic League Premier Division rivals on Saturday in the Hellenic League Challenge Cup.

Fairford will be without Jason Milhench and Sam Mepham, who both serve the last game of their respective suspensions.

Meanwhile, goalkeeping coach Mike Alexander drops out to allow for the return of Ben Mitchell in goal, while Dan Hill is also another option as he returns from university.

Former Highworth reserve team manager Davies is looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, but does not underestimate the size of the challenge awaiting his side.

“I spent a decent time there and the people at the club are really good,” he said.

“It will be nice to see a few old faces again and catch up.

“From a football side of things, we want to do well and they are one of the best sides in the town.

“I would love to get one over on them but it is going to be a difficult task.

“We just need to set our stall out and stick to the plan and hopefully we will do alright.

“They have got so many good players in different areas that, if you are not switched on and playing well, you are going to get hurt.

“We just need to stay in the game for as long as we can and we have got a few good players ourselves who could cause some issues for them.”

Meanwhile, Royal Wootton Bassett will be hoping to bounce back from Monday night’s 2-0 defeat at Binfield when they play host to bottom-of-the-league Wokingham & Emmbrook at the Gerrard Buxton Sports Ground.
