SWINDON Town boss Mark Cooper has warned that players’ places are under threat if they continue to underperform.

Swindon have lost their last three games as they head to Doncaster this evening looking to end the rot.

However, speaking to BBC Wiltshire ahead of the game, Cooper has said that he could drop players if their form does not improve.

“It has to come from the players,” he said.

“We can only show them so many times and highlight it on the footage and then show them on the training pitch, but if they don’t do it, then they are going to have to come out of the team.

“We weren’t good enough defensively (against Colchester).

“There were opportunities in the game for us. We had chances and I don’t think we deserved to lose the game.

“I think everybody appreciates that. We’ve just got to work a little bit harder to make it turn.

“We’ve done alright on our travels and the pressure will be off us up there a little bit.

“We can go and focus and go and play, so we’ll see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Cooper could not shed any more light on the reasons behind goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux’s return to parent club Liverpool.

However, he has full faith that Tyrell Belford will be able to step up in the absence of any other professional goalkeeper on the books.

“I believe he has gone back to Liverpool. I believe he’s been called back,” added Cooper.

“I thought Ty did well (against Colchester) - he did fine. He didn’t have loads to do but we couldn’t blame him for the goals and he did fine.”
