Adver Sport reporter Matt Edwards gives out his match ratings from Swindon Town’s 1-0 defeat away to Port Vale
Lawrence Vigouroux: 6
Could do little about the early goal but sliced a few clearances and spilled a shot that nearly resulted in a Vale second. A good stop at the death saved his score.
Bradley Barry: 7
Showed good attacking intent and proved to be a good outlet down the right but just needed to create more chances for the front two
A marked improvement on Saturday as the skipper continues to find his match fitness. Made some important challenges when left exposed
Michael Doughty: 8*
Considering he was only standing in at centre-back, he carried out the role very well and did not look out of place at all
Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill: 6
Has set some high standards in recent weeks and didn’t quite live up to them on the night as Ben Purkiss dealt with him well
Anton Rodgers: 7
Was a solid figure at the base of the midfield as he broke up play well and set Town on their way with some nice passing
Yaser Kasim: 7
Many questioned his effort after missing out on a deadline day move but he worked hard, despite being a bit shy of a 50/50 challenge
Jeremy Balmy: 6
A mixed bag on a rare start for the midfielder as he showed plenty of endeavour without setting the world alight
Fabien Robert: 8
Looked Town's brightest player going forward as he enjoyed a lot of time and space on the ball and was unlucky with some of his end product
Jermaine Hylton: 6
Had limited chances to impress on another rare start. He had some nice touches but a lot of the game passed him by
Jonathan Obika: 7
Used his strength well up top to try and link up play but lacked many clear cut chances to get Town back into the game, his header over probably the best
SUBS
Lee Marshall (on for Balmy 61’) 7
For a young player, he did not look overawed by the situation and showed some very nice touches on the ball
Jordan Young (on for Hylton 61’) 7
The fourth-youngest player ever for Town but, like his fellow substitute, he showed some fine flare as he impressed on his debut
