SWINDON Town have reportedly had a six-figure bid turned down for in-demand Dagenham & Redbridge striker Oliver Hawkins.
The Daggers are understood to have rejected Town’s offer for the 24-year-old frontman, which was received in writing last week, with Hawkins heavily linked with Championship trio Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ipswich are believed to have made several enquires as to the availability of Hawkins, who is the National League outfit’s top-scorer this term with 16 goals in 28 appearances, but are yet to make an official approach.
Hawkins’ potential reportedly alerted EFL scouts in the second half of last season following his January move from Hemel Hempstead Town and an asking price of as much of £250,000 has been mooted.
The Daggers are currently fourth in the National League table, with Hawkins the division’s third-highest goalscorer.
Luke Norris is Swindon’s current top marksman this term with four goals in 30 games while Jonathan Obika and Nathan Delfouneso have scored three times in 15 and 24 matches respectively.
Jermaine Hylton, who recently returned to the club from a loan spell with Guiseley, has yet to find the net.
