SWINDON Town supporters' two-month wait to see midfielder Timi Elsnik back in red and white colours is poised to end on Saturday, with manager David Flitcroft confirming the Slovenian will play a role in the League Two encounter with Crewe at the County Ground.

Derby County ace Elsnik, who is on a season-long loan in Wiltshire, made his comeback from a hamstring injury in a 7-2 win for the Rams' U23 side against Birmingham at St George's Park on Monday.

The 19 year old, who has not played for Town since limping off during November's win at Yeovil, featured for more than an hour in the Premier League Cup clash and came through successfully before making his return to Town this week.

Flitcroft revealed today that the teenager would be involved against the Railwaymen, while fellow midfielder Amine Linganzi and forward Donal McDermott continue their injury rehabilitation.

"Timi trained today and he'll be involved on Saturday. He is buzzing to be back and I'm excited he's back with us,'' said Flitcroft, who is clearly excited about the potential boss the youngster's return offers his squad's promotion push.

"We travelled up to St George's Park, Timi played and it was a fantastic performance from Derby - he was the instigator in that. It was great to see him in action.

"I'll be putting pressure on him to perform because he can take a game by the scruff of the neck."

McDermott's recovery has been boosted by the news that he does not need groin surgery, with Linganzi also on the mend.

"Donal McDermott doesn't need to have an operation on his groin, he's checking and turning now and Amine Linganzi is progressing well. He's on course with his rehab,'' added the manager.

Flitcroft also revealed Town were still working on deals ahead of the closure of the transfer window next Wednesday, with the exit as well as entry door at the County Ground possibly in use.

"Things are still ongoing with transfers,'' he added.

"We might have a couple of outs and we might have one in. There's nothing over the line as we speak, but we're keeping an eye on the situation.

"January has been about trying to get the balance of the squad right. I've said to all the players that February is a critical month because we've got games Saturday-Tuesday, so it is a massive month and it does offer fantastic competition.''
