SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter says the team’s success on the road earlier this season has given him belief that they can hit the same heights again.

Although the Robins remain at the top of the SGB Premiership table, they have lost their last four away fixtures in the league, picking up just a solitary point in the process.

Swindon return to the action for the first time in two-and-a-half weeks tonight but do so away from home as they travel to take on Belle Vue Aces.

Rossiter’s troops began the campaign by winning their first two Premiership fixtures away from the Abbey Stadium at Poole Pirates and Leicester Lions – even recording a thumping 52-38 success down on the south coast.

Swindon’s lofty league status has been aided by their 100 per cent record on home shale in 2018, and Rossiter is well aware that improvement is required on other tracks in order for his side to stay at the head of the pack.

“I think we need to up our game a little bit. The riders know that, and the staff know it too,” said Rossiter.

“There are a lot of teams on our heels and we need to start getting a few more wins on the road.

“I know we have done it already, but a lot of teams are picking up points pretty regularly, whereas in the last few meetings, we haven’t done so.

“On the road, we need to be a little bit better and make sure we get a few extra points.”

With his team still going strong in the defence of the Premiership title they won last year, Rossiter admits there is no real sense of alarm within the Robins camp.

However, more consistent performances on the road would make the Swindon boss even more content – starting at the National Speedway Stadium this evening.

“We lost by 10 the last time we went to Belle Vue back in May, so we really do either need to get a win or at least a point up there,” said Rossiter.

“We know we can do it away from home as have shown we can already this season.

“I am confident we can turn it around again, but I shouldn’t really be panicking because we are at the top of the league.

“We just need to keep winning at home and try to improve slightly on our away form.”
