SWINDON’S DUO Motorsport with HMS Racing are hoping they can finish the 2018 season on a high as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship calendar comes to a close.

Rounds 28, 29 and 30 will take place this weekend at Brands Hatch, and after a promising display at Silverstone just over a week ago, driver Rob Austin will aim for better this week.

With one top-three finish to his name this year, Austin is hoping he can double that tally this weekend.

One year on from its memorable maiden championship victory at Brands Hatch, achieved by Austin and the squad’s since-departed Toyota Avensis, the team are resolutely determined to mount the strongest challenge possible for a repeat performance which would be a maiden win for the Alfa Romeo.

“I’m going to be absolutely gutted if we can’t end this season with another podium," said Austin.

“The boys have had such a tough year but have done a great job developing the DUO Motorsport with HMS Racing Alfa Romeo and, through no fault of our own, they haven’t been rewarded with more results through the season.

“Brands Hatch is where we had our last podium and our last win. It’s a good track for us and represents the last opportunity of the year to reward everyone – the team, our sponsors and our loyal fans.”

After such a promising display at Silverstone, Austin is hoping to develop that form this weekend.

He said: “We took a step forward with our development at Silverstone and we will try to take that one step further.

“I hope we can maintain and improve the great pace that saw us rise from the back of the grid all the way up to fighting for the win at Silverstone, and put it to good use.”

Following the two regular free practice sessions on Saturday, qualifying for the final weekend of the Touring Car Championship season at Brands Hatch GP Circuit will get underway at 3.20pm.

On Sunday, September 30, round 28 will begin at 11.35am, round 29 will start at 2.25pm and round 30 will commence at 5.15pm.
