JODY Bevan believes a tough start to Fairford Town’s Hellenic Premier Division campaign won’t impact tomorrow’s trip to league newcomers Ardley.

Town sit bottom of the Hellenic Premier Division having secured five points from their opening nine fixtures, while rivals Ardley have experienced better fortunes and sit mid-table with 15 points from 12.

After securing a draw against Windsor last weekend, Bevan is now keen to push on and register Fairford’s second away win of the season.

He said: “Ardley are a new side to the division this year and they’ve had a good start.

“They’ve signed a few players from Oxford City Nomads’ side of last season, we’re expecting it to be a tough test for us – especially away from home.

“We’ve had a tough start to the year results-wise. From what I’ve seen it’s a pretty even league – anyone can beat anyone.

“If a team can get on the right run then you can quickly find yourself shooting up the league.”

Bevan will be missing Ben Saunders (concussion) and Ben Lodge (ankle) for tomorrow’s clash but it otherwise in a strong position regarding team selection.

The Town boss admits having a squad of 21 helps his cause, particularly when it comes down to playing in the week when some players are in need of rest.

“We’ve got a few out in defence,” said Bevan.

“Ben Saunders is still recovering from concussion, which he picked up a couple of weeks ago.

“Ben Lodge is out too, he sprained an ankle in training 10 days ago. Other than that we have a clean bill of health.

“We’ve got 21 players in the squad, and we’ll be utilising it as best as we can.

“At the same time though we must aim to win every game.”

Elsewhere in the Hellenic Premier Division, Shrivenham will be looking to make up for lost ground when they travel to Holmer Green while Sam Collier’s Royal Wootton Bassett are also hitting the road - they face Wantage Town.

In Division One West, Malmesbury Victoria host Thornbury Town while New College Swindon welcome Pewsey Vale.
