PLAYER-COACH Aaron Nell says his players responded in the perfect way as the Swindon Wildcats demolished MK Thunder 9-0 at home.

The result comes a week after the Wildcats slipped to a disappointing 4-1 defeat at the Link Centre to Streatham.

However, the Swindon side redeemed themselves without trouble as they took a two-goal lead in the opening period through goals from Adam Harding Edgars Bebris.

In the second the Cats really pounced on their counterparts, putting a further four goals past them as Nell and Jan Kostal both scored, in addition to a brace from Chris Jones.

The final period, a rapid three goals completed the scoreline as Kostal, Luc Johnson and Sam Godfrey all scored.

“We owed a performance to our fans. I don’t think we started the game too great but then I thought we were excellent in the second and third periods,” he said.

“We scored two good goals in the first period and I think that line of Harding, Eddie and Jan has been great so far.

“They scored two good goals by going to the net and we improved that in the second and third periods, we had much better net presence.

“We were getting lots of chances and I am just glad we were able to react from last week. I am very happy with the players.

“That’s the most important thing to the player. We owed it to the supporters for the stuff they had to watch last week, we were good, we were solid in defence and we couldn’t have done much more.

“Games like this are difficult to assess. We were the better team, I was happy with how the players kept going and they carried on trying to play in the right way.”

In the final period Floyd Taylor suffered a nasty shoulder injury after clashing with the boards at the Link and Nell says it is unlikely he will feature in tomorrow’s game with London Raiders.

“Tomorrow is going to be a much tougher test in a tough rink so we are look forward to it,” he added.

“Floyd could be a big loss. He won’t play tomorrow and we will get him off to physio during the week.

“He has had a great start to the year, he is great for us, so hopefully it isn’t as bad as it looked on the ice and we can get him back soon.”
