SWINDON cruiserweight Luke Watkins suffered a last gasp defeat to Isaac Chamberlain in their domestic clash as he lost Both fighters were returning to the ring after suffering the first defeat of their professional careers, with both losing to Lawrence Okolie earlier this year.
In the opening exchanges it was Chamberlain who looked the brighter of the two men as he demonstrated his skills in the first round.
However, Watkins soon came to the fore with some heavy shots of his own and his aggression began to swing the bout in his favour.
During the middle rounds of their 10 round match, it was all action as Watkins continued to assert himself while Chamberlain was also making good progress of his own.
Towards the latter stages Chamberlain was the one who began to ascend, leaving the bout balanced on a knife edge.
As the 28-year-old began to falter, Chamberlain looked to seize his opportunity by knocking out the Swindon fighter.
Valiantly, Watkins continued despite some heavy punishment but the former New College student couldn't hold on as he was knocked down in the last seconds of the match, ultimately costing him the win.
