Swindon Advertiser:

ONE TO WATCH: Scott Wilson

WITH four goals in his last five games, the Silkmen’s joint-top scorer – Scott Wilson – will likely fancy his chances against Swindon Town’s defence.

Wilson is experiencing his first taste of the Football League – having fired his current club out of the National League with 14 goals last season – and his form has mirrored that of his team’s as they both started slowly before rediscovering their touch under new boss Sol Campbell.

A match-winning brace away at Notts County on Boxing Day was added to by a consolation goal away at Carlisle United three days later as Wilson has taken over goal-scoring responsibilities from ex-Town loanee Harry Smith since his sending off at Meadow Lan.

His first constant run of games since October has helped.

KEY BATTLE: Marc Richards v Fiacre Kelleher

WITH Marc Richards returning to full fitness and Richie Wellens’ incessant calls for ‘men’ in his team, League Two’s all-time top scorer is likely to be asked to fill the central role up top as Swindon Town go hunting a first win at Moss Rose at the fourth attempt.

Richards will look to peel on to the Silkmen’s 22-year-old centre-back Fiacre Kelleher – once of Celtic – as both Town and the 36-year-old attempt to rediscover their scoring touch.

The defender – who is on loan Oxford United – has been a part of all four of Macclesfield’s clean sheets this season.

With neither team in particularly prolific form in front of goal, the game may be won or lost for Swindon depending on Richards’ contribution.
