RICHIE Wellens is targeting two additions to strengthen his Swindon Town squad before the 11pm transfer deadline tonight.

The 38-year-old Town boss was distraught with his side’s performance on Saturday and said it would have been easy to be angry and frustrated with his players following their 1-0 loss against Crawley.

But he has instead opted to provide constructive criticism to his men and expects a return to form against Forest Green Rovers at home this weekend.

And Wellens hopes he could have two fresh faces through the door before kick-off against Mark Cooper’s side at the County Ground on Saturday – one attacking winger and another in an unspecified position.

Wellens said: “We’re pretty close to one, and then maybe another.

“We do need something – especially at home – at the top end of the pitch just to be a little bit different.

“I’m comfortable with the way we play away from home, our results have shown that. We’re defensively very good and strong on the counter attack.

“Our performance against Crawley came out of the blue. When it’s so, so, bad – you don’t want to over analyse things.

“Sometimes you’ve just got to put a line through things, it’s easy to be angry and frustrated with the players – but then we might lose them. We’ve tried to be constructive, I expect a response this Saturday.”
