SWINDON Skater Hockey Club are looking to recruit new players of all ages and abilities.

Players between the ages of six and 12 are being particularly sought, with anyone welcome to join the club regardless of previous experience.

The club, who compete as Swindon Flames, play in-line skater hockey, which is similar to ice hockey but played with a ball.

Training sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 10am-12noon at Haydon Leisure Centre on Thames Avenue, with the first session free to attend.

Sessions are led by experienced Canadian ice hockey coach Mark Beggs, who is also part of the Great Britain junior ice hockey coaching team.

The club is one of the oldest in-line hockey clubs in the country and has been operating for more than 25 years.

It has been one of Swindon’s most successful sporting clubs over the years, enjoying success in regional, national and European competitions and many of the players have gone on to represent both the area and GB international teams.

Last season the club finished third in their league and fourth in the nationals.
