WROUGHTON extended their lead at the top of the Wiltshire Senior League to 10 points after a comfortable 4-0 win at home to Corsham Town Reserves.

Aaron Maximen put Wroughton on their way in the fourth minute from the penalty spot before Tom Dingle and Shane Hibbert netted further first-half goals.

Hibbert nabbed his second in the second half to send Wroughton comfortably clear at the top – although they have played three more games than nearest rivals Kintbury.

Marlborough Town became the first team to deny Melksham Town Reserves all three points at their home ground after a 2-2 draw at the InfiLED arena.

Marlborough had gone two goals up thanks to strikes from Chris Deane and Aaron Presley before a spate of ill-discipline saw three visiting players dismissed.

The reduction in Marlborough players made it far simpler for Melksham to mount a comeback and duly grabbed two goals courtesy of Brad Butcher and Owen Pearce.

Trowbridge and Purton shared the points as the two top-half sides played out a dramatic 1-1 draw.

Jake Sainsbury gave Trowbridge the lead early on before Will Backhouse grabbed the equaliser in the 80th minute.

Purton then had claims for a last-minute penalty waved away and both sides were forced to settle for a point each.

Two in-form sides also met at the weekend as Ludgershall Sports took on Malmesbury Victoria Development.

Both teams were on strong unbeaten runs, but it was Ludgershall who came out on top thanks to a 3-0 win.

David Cotter netted twice for Sports with Kiefer Roper completing the scoring.

Cricklade Town lost their seventh game in a row after going down 2-1 away at Devizes Town.

Sam Dodds and a Ben Perrott penalty did the damage for the home side – Jason Tatum netted Cricklade’s consolation.

Pewsey Vale secured a huge three points at the weekend thanks to their 2-0 victory at home to Football ID.

Liam Edmondson and Harrison Lowe maintained Pewsey’s decent run of form as the league’s bottom side stayed in touch with Devizes above them.

Lastly, Shrewton United took on Kintbury Rangers in the semi-final of the Fountain Trophies Cup.

Rangers emerged victorious after goals from Tom Mahoney and Fabio Pinter.
