A HOME clash against Championship side Birmingham City is the highlight of Swindon Town’s pre-season programme, with Richie Wellens’ side playing six friendlies ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Town will also host League One side Coventry City, while a week-long trip to La Manga in Spain has also been planned to aid fitness work and team building.
Swindon’s four other friendlies are against non-league sides, including against Wiltshire sides Swindon Supermarine, Salisbury and Melksham Town.
Wellens’ troops begin their friendly schedule on Tuesday, July 2 away at Hellenic League side Brimscombe & Thrupp.
Three days later on Friday, July 5, Town travel to Supermarine for their annual friendly meeting – facing the town’s leading non-league side for a 26th year in a row.
A week-long training camp in Spain is then planned before Town return to England and resume their friendly programme away at Salisbury on Tuesday, July 16.
The first pre-season match at the Energy Check County Ground then takes place on Friday, July 19 when Birmingham visit SN1.
Eight days later, Swindon run out on home turf once more when they play host to Coventry on Saturday, July 27.
Wellens’ side round off their pre-season friendly programme with a trip to local non-league side Melksham Town on Tuesday, July 30.
The new League Two season then gets under way on Saturday, August 3.
