SWINDON Robins rider Jason Doyle resumes his quest for a second world title in tonight’s Slovenian Speedway Grand Prix.
Doyle made an uncharacteristically poor start to the 2019 Grand Prix season, claiming only five points from five rides at the Warsaw event two weekends ago and trails current world championship leader, Patryk Dudek by 11 points after one round.
Two second places suggested a promising night was ahead for the Australian, however, Doyle only finished in the scoring places once more in his final three rides and left Poland disappointed.
The 34-year-old now heads to Krsko in Slovenia looking to claim a first GP victory of the season at an event where gate placings could be crucial.
Of the 305 SGP heats to have been raced at the Matije Gubca Stadium, 137 have been won by the rider wearing the red helmet colour (45 per cent).
Therefore, Friday night’s qualifying session could prove decisive in terms of Doyle’s chances of success.
