“THE most important thing for me is Swindon Town Football Club” – those are the words of Swindon Town manager Richie Wellens amid rumours of a swap to Salford.

The Town boss was cut from 19-1 to 5-1 with some bookmakers on Monday, however, in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Robins’ trip to Northampton Town, Wellens reaffirmed his commitment to the club by stating he will continue to give his all, just as he has done in his two years so far.

The 40-year-old revealed he had been offered jobs in the past while at the County Ground, but interest from other clubs had never taken his focus away from what is important to him and it was not about to start now.

He said: “You guys asked me this question last week and I answered it, so I don’t think I need to repeat myself.

“I’ve been offered four jobs since I’ve been at this club of which you know nothing about, because I’ve kept it private and I’ve kept it to myself.

“It’s wrong of me to take my attention away from what is the most important thing.

“The most important thing for me is Swindon Town Football Club, the players here, the staff that I work with, and obviously the supporters.

“That’s my main focus, ever since I walked through the door. I’ve given this club everything, and I will continue to do so.”
