ADVER Sport assessed the performances of the Swindon Town players following the club's 3-2 win away at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Mark Travers: 8

A confident debut for the young goalkeeper, who had to be at his best to deny Ipswich in the first half courtesy of a top save. The stopper’s game management was encouraging too – he looks a brilliant acquisition by the Swindon bosses.

Paul Caddis: 7

Caddis was booked early on for a silly challenge down the right, but battled well throughout. Swindon’s win record with Caddis at right-back is worth a look too. Booked.

Dion Conroy: 8

Conroy was brilliant at centre-half, and barely missed a tackle while showing good pace when necessary. His pace and game sharpness appears to be returning – all good signs.

Zeki Fryers: 6

Fryers was beaten too easily on too many occasions and was culpable for both goals, in part. News of a possible centre-back arriving from Nottingham Forest may be bad news for Fryers.

Dom Thompson: 9

When I spoke to Thompson on Thursday, he said he wants to play for England one day. If he plays like that every week, he’s got every chance. His speed, footwork and strength were particular highlights. A hat-trick of assists on debut is a pretty impressive way to start.

Matt Smith: 8

The small break appears to have done Smith the world of good. He appeared fresh, able to put his foot on the ball and dictate the play efficiently alongside Jordan Lyden and Matt Palmer.

Matt Palmer: 8

Now we know the answer to the question – who’s fault was it that Matt Palmer didn’t play well under Richie Wellens? Palmer was highly impressive against Ipswich, and looks as though he will add plenty of quality in centre midfield.

Jordan Lyden: 8

The aggression with which you associate Jordan Lyden’s game was plainly evident once again. The Australian played with an edge that meant Ipswich rarely tried to play through the middle. No messing around, Lyden just did his job well.

Scott Twine: 8

Twine started off a little slowly before growing into the game midway through the first half. He then announced his return at Swindon by scoring the goal of the season so far. Let’s face it, it’s unlikely to be beaten either.

Diallang Jaiyesimi: 8

The former Canary put in an attacking performance that many at Carrow Road would have loved to have witnessed against their bitter rivals. The winger was excellent in an attacking sense, however, his lost the ball for Ipswich’s equaliser and continued to try and over complicate things in the defensive third. Still, two goals means few people will mind his defensive errors.

Brett Pitman: 7

Pitman was hit and miss in his role as the hold-up man. You can’t help but notice his lack of mobility at times. Having said that, he did his job well enough against Ipswich for Swindon to take all three points.

SUBSTITUTE:

Anthony Grant: N/A

Grant was subbed on with about 10 seconds remaining.
