CHAMPIONSHIP club Luton Town is set to make a "decent offer" to sign promising Swindon Town youngster Scott Twine this month, according to reports.

Several other Championship clubs - including AFC Bournemouth, Queens Park Rangers, Reading and Brentford - were all rumoured to be weighing up a move for Town's prize 21-year-old.

However, The Sun sports reporter, Alan Nixon stated on Sunday that the Hatters remain the only club that is looking at Twine's potential acquisition as a real possibility this month.

Nixon did suggest that Swindon are in no rush to sell their newest star though, and hope to see Twine sign a new deal in the coming days.

Luton are said to be the only side who are likely to make an offer for Twine this month, with the Bedfordshire club set to lose a number of their star names to Championship rivals.

The potential move comes days after reports emerged that Luton's Sonny Bradley was being monitored by Preston North End.

The Sun reporter believes Town boss Sheridan is hopeful that Twine will stay the at the club for the meantime after signing an extension before moving on to pastures new in the summer.

As reported by Adver Sport last week, Town have started negotiations with Twine due to his current deal at the County Ground ending at the culmination of this season.

Swindon Town assistant Tommy Wright said he would "love to keep" Twine at the County Ground beyond this summer but warned that "everybody has their price" in football, and if an offer came in that was too good to refuse for the club, they would be inclined to take it.

The Scottish assistant warned Twine that while the attention he is receiving is obviously flattering, the youngster must keep his feet on the ground so as to maintain his recent level of performance.

Wright said: “I think we have started speaking to Scott about a new contract.

“I’ve always spoken highly of Scott, every time you’ve asked me. I think the way we’ve managed him has been first class, but Scott has taken everything on board, and he did very well at Newport.

“Obviously, because he’s doing well people are interested in him. He is a talent, but he has to keep working hard.

“Obviously, I want to keep him, I think everybody would want to keep him. But football is football – everybody has got their price.”
