SWINDON’S Fraser Rogers says he is feeling more and more confident with every passing lap aboard his Aprilia RSV4 following a second-place finish in the second round of British Superbike testing at Snetterton last week.

Rogers’ IN Competition team made the journey from Silverstone in Northamptonshire to Snetterton for the three-day test in Norfolk, however, the forecasted wet weather arrived in abundance and very few dry laps were completed.

Rogers and teammate Ben Luxton, both competent riders in the wet, tested the track out on Tuesday but soon withdrew due to icy conditions and parked up in the garages for the remainder of the day.

Day two proved to be the best session for completing dry laps as conditions improved considerably.

The IN Competition duo headed out for the opening session in positive mood, with Rogers progressing to fifth place from Rouse, Day, McConnell and Truelove.

The second and final session that Rogers and Luxton would take, both pushed harder, testing out various electronic settings whereby Rogers put in a quickest time of 1:52.612 on lap seven of eight, only 0.130 off Matt Truelove.

Heavy rain completely washed out the final day at Snetterton, but Rogers’ outfit managed the time wisely, working with Maxton Suspension as well as the team’s data guru, Derek Huxley in order to fine tune the bike for the start of the regular season later this summer.

Expressing his thoughts on a difficult few days testing, Rogers said: “We managed to get two dry runs in which helped us complete 16 dry laps overall.

“We got to try out some things with the electronics where we found some small teething issues.

“We were then able to fix that, but even with these issues we still remained competitive and came in second overall.

“I am extremely happy with the bike right now, but it would have been good to get some more laps in.

“However, I spent the time bonding with the team and I am really enjoying being in and around this group of people.”

Rogers, who made his return to the IN Competition team after a spell away from the family-run outfit, believes his garage is in the best place it’s ever been and he is confident of success this year.

He said: “This year, it’s clear that the bike and I have very good potential, and together I am feeling very confident for this season.

“Thanks to the team for their hard work, it was a shame about the weather, but we worked through a couple of things and are slowly dialling it in and figuring out what the bike likes and doesn’t like with the aid of the ‘Data Derek’.

“I also want to say a massive thank you to Rich from Maxton Suspension. I’m really liking the new suspension.

“It is another new component for me and we have been working really well together. He understands my feedback and can change things immediately for me which is something I have not had before.

“We have a good base set up and am really looking forward to continuing on the journey up to the next official test at Oulton Park.”

Rogers’ IN Competition Aprilia team will be back in action on Wednesday, May 19 at Oulton Park for the third official British Superbikes test.

The event will also see the return of spectators to BSB for the first time since before the coronavirus pandemic intervened.
